Antique French Trumeau Mirror with Painted Panel, c.1880
A wonderful original French trumeau mirror dating from the late 19th century (c.1880). This tall and elegant mirror combines architectural presence with decorative charm, making it a striking feature piece for any interior.
The upper section is inset with a hand-painted panel depicting a floral still life in soft tones, framed with moulded detail. Below sits the original mirror plate, showing attractive age-related foxing and patina. The oak frame is finished with classic mouldings and a dentil cornice, giving the mirror a refined yet understated elegance.
I personally sourced this piece in France on one of my regular buying trips — a genuine antique with authentic French provenance, not a reproduction.
Perfect for use above a console, fireplace, or as a statement hallway piece, this trumeau mirror brings French history and decorative charm into the home. Trumeau mirrors also work beautifully in tall rooms, adding proportion and balance, and are especially striking when paired with French consoles for symmetry.
