Antique French Louis Philippe Mirror, c.1880
A beautiful original French Louis Philippe mirror dating from the late 19th century (c.1880). This elegant mirror features its original beveled glass plate set within a richly carved and moulded frame. The design is typical of the Louis Philippe period, with gently rounded shoulders and refined decoration.
The frame retains traces of its historic painted finish, now gently worn with age, with a subtle glimmer of faded gilt showing through in places. Together with the delicate floral and foliate carvings, the mirror has a timeless patina and authentic French charm.
I personally sourced this piece in France on one of my regular buying trips โ a genuine antique with authentic French provenance, not a reproduction.
Versatile and elegant, this mirror can be displayed above a fireplace, console, or chest of drawers, and is equally striking when leaned against a wall for a relaxed, French country feel.
