The wonderfully elongated composition depicts an elegant female hand and forearm holding Lanvin’s iconic spherical black perfume bottle. The bottle bears the famous Jeanne Lanvin mother-and-daughter emblem and is surmounted by a beautifully ribbed stopper.

Jeanne Lanvin founded her celebrated Paris fashion house in 1889. The company subsequently expanded into perfume, creating some of the most memorable French fragrances of the 20th century.
Arpège was launched in 1927 and was created for Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter, Marie-Blanche, to celebrate her 30th birthday. Its musical name refers to an arpeggio.
The famous black Arpège bottle carries the emblem of Jeanne Lanvin and her daughter. The original image was created by French illustrator Paul Iribe and became one of the house’s most recognisable symbols.
Scandal was introduced in 1933. Its appearance alongside Arpège allows this particular advertisement to be precisely dated to the year of Scandal’s launch.

CONDITION
In excellent vintage condition.
As an authentic magazine advertisement from 1933, there may be very minor age-related variations within the original printed paper. The surrounding mount displays a few small marks and minor signs of storage and handling.

The tall, narrow proportions make this a particularly useful piece for filling an awkward space between larger pictures or adding height to a gallery wall.
