About This Piece
A beautifully preserved matching set of four original antique Spode dinner plates in the Jasmine pattern, dating to approximately 1825–1833.
These are early 19th-century Spode plates from the late Georgian period, rather than later reproductions. Their generous dinner-plate size, intricate floral decoration and sculptural moulded edges give the group considerable presence.
Each plate features a detailed cobalt-blue transfer print depicting jasmine, roses and other flowers. Botanical sprays and scrolling foliage extend across the surface, framed by a richly ornamented border.
A moulded white gadrooned edge completes the design, providing a striking contrast to the densely patterned blue decoration.
The clarity and detail of the floral printing make these particularly appealing examples of early English blue-and-white transferware. Subtle differences between the plates add to the character of the matching group.
Around 200 years old, these four plates survive together in excellent antique condition. They would make a handsome addition to a collection of Georgian Spode or a decorative display of antique Staffordshire pottery.
Details & Condition
All four plates have no chips, cracks or restoration identified.
There is light surface wear, minor scratching, glaze crazing and occasional firing or transfer-print irregularities, consistent with their age and manufacture.
Subtle variations in the shade and alignment of the cobalt-blue decoration are characteristic of individually decorated transferware. Small glaze specks and kiln marks are also consistent with the production process.
The plates retain clear, richly detailed decoration and display beautifully as a group.
Each measures approximately 26 cm in diameter. Please allow for small variations in measurements.

Polly’s Styling Notes
These plates have everything I love about early blue-and-white pottery: intricate botanical detail, strong colour and a beautifully shaped edge.
I would display all four together on a dresser or arrange them as a balanced group on a wall. The moulded white borders would look particularly effective against a deep blue, green or warm neutral background.
They would sit beautifully in an English country-house interior, among floral fabrics and collected antiques, or bring pattern and history to a simpler contemporary room.

Returns
Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery.
For change-of-mind returns, the buyer is responsible for return postage. All four plates must be securely packaged and returned in the same condition in which they were received.
